Office
Imagine a small office built in the corner of a workshop that is just big enough to fit in four cars. The office is small with two chairs a desk, filing cabinet and a greasy phone. The good chair is for the owner / boss. The other chair is for the customer to sit while we break the news of how much it’s going to cost to fix their car. When there are no customers I can sit in it, as long as I do not get grease on it. There is no computer. We look up parts from a stack of part books or we ring and ask a supplier and they send the parts round to us in a van.We work on Minis, Escorts, Jags, MGs, Austins some Mercs and a lot of work vans. The workshop is on an industrial estate in the South of England. One two post hoist and a big roller door, it was freezing in winter.That is what life was like for a young auto tech apprentice in 1988. Just the boss and myself servicing and repairing cars. We had some good laughs.
The office for motorsportnoise is not like that at all, its just stuff on a laptop.
This page is a bit like the filing cabinet, a place to put the important stuff. Like the teabags ;O)
