Sydney Motorsport Park Practice & Qualifying Friday 21st February
One practice session and Qualifying before the race.
The desk is in the DJR garage and Jess, Mark and Garth are talking about Brodie Kostecki. Moving from Erebus Brodie has brought with him two engineers and also had the chassis built by the same chassis builder that worked for Erebus. There’s been one all in test day so far for all teams and now we get to see them all practice together.
Drivers are in the cars ready to roll out on to the track for practice.
Two rookies Kai Allen and Cooper Murry are in for their first full season of Gen 3 Supercars. Cooper at Erebus and Kai at Grove.
Sydney Motorsport Park has 11 turns and a length of 3.91 kilometres.
Large amount of the track is turning so mechanical grip is important and trying to not burn out the tire too fast. New tires for this year from Dunlop with the aim to reduce heating issues from following cars. Make them last a bit longer and allow the drivers to push more on them and recover from errors.
Practice.
Cars roll out on to the track
Anton Pasquale went to the top early with a 1:30.022 that’s a good time to set so close to the start of the session.
Just under 15 mins and Brodie is in 10th Kai is in 20th and Cooper is in 24th. Anton is still at the top.
At the end of the session Antons time stands by .4 of a second.
Cameron Waters looked like he was close to Antons time but blew his lap with a kerb strike going wide at turn 8.
